The Journalist

This cocktail, like most of our favorites, emerged out of the Prohibition Era.  It was first published in Harry Craddock’s The Savoy Cocktail Book — a compilation of cocktail recipes from the 1920’s and 30’s.  Craddock is one of the most famous Prohibition bartenders; cocktails such as the the Corpse Reviver No. 2 and the White Lady were crafted by this master-mind. Like a Perfect Martini, The Journalist comprises of equal parts sweet & dry vermouth.

The Journalist

2oz gin
1/2oz sweet vermouth
1/2oz dry vermouth
1/4oz curaçao
1/4oz lemon juice
2 dashes of aromatic bitters

Pour ingredients into a shaker with ice, shake & strain into a chilled coupe glass, garnish with a twist of lemon.

This cocktail was crafted in honor of one of our dearest friends; an amazing journalist who has just wrapped up their first big journalism gig. We are excited to see what this next chapter brings for this individual.
